The CFM is a fledgling Fantasy magazine about to publish it's very first issue. It will be available for free on their blog as a PDF download.
"Issue One will be a free PDF download available by the end of June. It will be considered the June 2009 issue.
The CFM(Contemporary Fantasy Magazine) is going to need a catchy name. So we're looking for suggestions. If you win, we'll put a little article about you in Issue 2 and you'll get that Issue for free.
Once we start selling the issues, they will be available for sale as PDF's on Etsy for $3.00 for that Second Issue, there will also be advertising space available at that time. Issue 2 will be released end of July. Subsequent issues will go up to $5.00 and will stay there.
Eventually we hope to start printing and selling physical copies, and when that happens they will also sell out of the Etsy store and prices will go up to cover costs. I don't know when we'll get around to printing, the PDF has to do well enough after all, and we have to be able to pay our wonderful contributors.
If you would like to contribute something for the first issue as a pure opportunity to display your work, let us know. We are looking for cover art and there will be a minimum of seven illustrations in each issue, likely more as I like pretty pictures. Any artist that does work for the first issue will be given a paid opportunity at a later date in another issue if all goes according to plan.
Also willing to pay in trade, both Sophia and I are artists, so if you'd like to do an art trade, that's fun too. The first issue will likely be a lot of self-congratulations if we don't get others involved, and I doubt you all want to read a bunch of stuff by the same two people. That's not what this magazine is about after all. This magazine is about all the amazing people I know are out there whose voices aren't being heard.
So, in closing, speak up, give us a shout and we'll see if we can't make this work. Together."
As a founding member of the magazine, I'd rather like to see if get off the ground. Anyhow, keep a look out!
